Our verdict
The bottom line
The JD X167R's direct rival at a lower price. Cuts as well, holds value less. Buy if budget is tight, JD if you can stretch.

Used-market tip
£900–1500 used. Stiga engine hours easier to ignore than JD because spare parts cost less — but still ask. Hydrostatic drive belt is the wear point — slipping under load means £80 belt and dealer fitting. Anti-scalp wheels and deck wash port are check items.
Where to look: Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree are usually 20–30% cheaper than eBay UK for petrol mowers because most sellers want local pickup. eBay tends to win on cordless and electric (lighter, easier to ship). Always insist on a starting demonstration before paying.
