Our verdict
The bottom line
The Atco for buyers who want British-built stripes without paying Hayter money. Same heritage, similar build quality, slightly cheaper used. The Briggs 750EX is reliable but not Honda-level. Buy if you have a Briggs dealer locally.

Used-market tip
£200–380 used. Steel deck rust check is critical — flip and look for hole-through corrosion. Roller bearings should turn smoothly. Original Atco serial number on the deck adds £40 to fair value. Anything stored under cover is a buy.
Where to look: Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree are usually 20–30% cheaper than eBay UK for petrol mowers because most sellers want local pickup. eBay tends to win on cordless and electric (lighter, easier to ship). Always insist on a starting demonstration before paying.
