Our verdict
The bottom line
The bigger Kubota for half-acre to acre estate lawns. Deeper deck and bigger engine than the GR1600-II — cuts in fewer passes. Worth the upgrade only if your lawn justifies it; for most domestic buyers the GR1600 is plenty.

Used-market tip
£3500–5200 used. Same Kubota service-history premium. Engine hours under 500 excellent. Hydrostatic drive belt slip under load is the most common ride-on fault — test on an incline. Glide Steer mechanism oil change is part of regular service.
Where to look: Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree are usually 20–30% cheaper than eBay UK for petrol mowers because most sellers want local pickup. eBay tends to win on cordless and electric (lighter, easier to ship). Always insist on a starting demonstration before paying.
