Our verdict
Honda playing catch-up to EGO. The HRG 466 XB is fine — Honda fit and finish, decent runtime, the warranty Honda owners expect — but at £749 it's £100 more than an EGO LM1701E that has self-drive and a bigger battery. Buy this mower if you already own Honda OPE and want one charger across everything. Otherwise the EGO is the better mower at less money.
Pros & cons
Pros
- Honda chassis — same plastic deck as the petrol HRG 466
- Honda 5-year warranty domestic
- Fold-flat handles — stores upright
- Quiet enough that the neighbours stop complaining
Cons
- Not self-propelled — surprising for the price
- Single 4Ah battery only — about 35 minutes runtime
- Honda dealer markup vs. EGO/Greenworks equivalents

Buying second-hand
Used HRG 466 XBs are uncommon — Honda owners tend to keep them. Best deals come from Honda dealers selling ex-demo at £450-550 with full warranty transfer. The 56V battery is Honda-specific; aftermarket cells don't exist, so battery health on a used buy is critical. Demand a runtime test — if it doesn't cut for 30 minutes on full charge, walk away.
