Our verdict
The bottom line
The default "I want a Honda but the HRX is too much" choice. Same engine pedigree, simpler deck, much better value used. If stripes do not matter to you, this is the smarter buy.

Buying second-hand
Used-market tip
£300–380 is the fair zone for a clean used HRG 466. Test the self-propel on an incline — slipping drive belt is the most common fault. Pull start should fire on the first or second pull when warm. Check oil colour through the dipstick — golden good, black means no service history.
Where to look: Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree are usually 20–30% cheaper than eBay UK for petrol mowers because most sellers want local pickup. eBay tends to win on cordless and electric (lighter, easier to ship). Always insist on a starting demonstration before paying.
