Our verdict

The bottom line

Bosch is moving its garden range from 18V PowerForAll to a new 40V platform and the CityMower 22 is one of the first models. Cleaner styling and brushless motor make it a step up from the older Rotak 32. For sub-300m² urban back gardens it's a fair £269 buy.

Used-market tip

Used £85-150. The 40V Bosch system is too new for big used supply — check the battery cycles in the included diagnostic via the Bosch app. Make sure the seller is offloading both the battery and charger (Bosch chargers are model-specific to 40V and not cheap separately).

Where to look: Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree are usually 20–30% cheaper than eBay UK for petrol mowers because most sellers want local pickup. eBay tends to win on cordless and electric (lighter, easier to ship). Always insist on a starting demonstration before paying.
